[FOS 10,110] Requirements on nutrient content labelling22

In accordance with section 13 of the Act, the following is prescribed for nutrient content labelling on all pre-packaged food produced, processed, packed, distributed, or imported—
  • (a)the declaration of energy, protein, fat, trans fat, sugar, sodium and carbohydrate, shall be made in accordance with composition;
  • (aa)the amount of trans fat, saturated fats, unsaturated fats, sodium and sugar shall be declared and expressed in milligrams or grams per 100 grams of total mass;
  • (b)information on energy value shall be expressed in kcal per l00g or per 100ml or per package if the package contains only a single portion or per serving as quantified on the label or per portion provided that the number of portions contained in the package is stated;
  • (c)information on the amounts of protein, carbohydrate and fat in the food be expressed in g per 100g or per 100ml or per package if the package contains only a single portion or per serving as quantified on the label or per portion provided that the number of portions contained in the package is stated;
  • (d)numerical information on vitamin and mineral shall be expressed in metric units and/or as a percentage of the nutrient reference value per 100g or per 100ml or per package if the package contains only a single portion or per serving as quantified on the label or per portion provided that the number of portions contained in the package is stated;
  • (e)the declaration of nutrient content shall be numerical; and
  • (f)nutrient declaration shall be mandatory for foods for which nutrition claims are made and the amount of that nutrient per l00g or per 100ml expressed in metric unit, and/or per serving shall be declared;
  • (g)[repealed]
