[EXP 10,060] Classes of magazines12

Magazines for the storage of explosive shall be classified as follows, namely—
  • (a)A Class 1 magazine shall be a permanent storage magazine for a quantity of explosive exceeding 1,350kg in weight or detonators exceeding 150,000 in number;
  • (b)A Class 2 magazine shall be a permanent storage magazine for a quantity of explosive exceeding 115kg and not exceeding 1,350kg in weight or detonators not exceeding 150,000 in number;
  • (c)A Class 3 magazine shall be a permanent storage magazine for a quantity of explosive not exceeding 115kg in weight or detonators not exceeding 10,000 in number;
  • (d)A Class 4 magazine shall be a portable magazine for the temporary storage of a quantity of explosive not exceeding 1,350kg in weight or detonators not exceeding 2,000 in number. A Class 4 magazine shall not be permitted where the storage requirement is sufficiently permanent to justify the erection of a Class 1, 2 or 3 magazine.
