AN ACT TO REFORM THE LAW RELATING TO GAMING
[GAM 5] Prohibition of particular games5

- (a)is constructed or adapted for playing a game of chance by means of the machine; and
- (b)has a slot or other aperture for the insertion of money or money’s worth in the form of cash or tokens,
is prohibited, unless such purchase, possession or use of a gaming machine is authorised under a licence issued by the Minister under subsection (6).

(2) Notwithstanding subsections (1) and (6), the purchase, possession or use of a vending machine which dispenses lottery tickets upon insertion of money or money’s worth in the form of cash or tokens is permitted.

(3) The game known as “crown and anchor” or any variety of such a game by whatsoever name it is called is prohibited except under a licence issued by the Minister under subsection (6).

(4) Save as provided in subsections (5) and (6), the establishment and operation of a casino and the playing of casino games through any medium is prohibited.

(5) The licensing authority may, upon consideration of an application in writing and subject to the provisions of Part 3, grant a Class 1 gaming licence authorising a person to conduct the playing of casino games provided the following conditions are satisfied—
- (a)the applicant is a registered charitable organisation under the Charitable Trusts Act 1945;
- (b)all the proceeds from the playing of the casino games are devoted to such charitable purposes as are specified in the licence;
- (c)the casino games will be played only at or during an event or function held at a single venue as specified in the licence.

(6) The Minister shall have the power to issue an exclusive licence for casino games.
