[SHR 10,070] Change of name of registered ships14

(1) An application for a change in name of a registered ship shall be made by the owner in Form REG 5, with the prescribed fees of $62.52 (VEP).
(2) Where the Registrar is satisfied that the applicant is the owner of the ship and that the proposed name is not a name that would be refused under section 19 of the Act, the Registrar shall notify the owner or the ship’s agent of the approval of the application.
(3) Where the Registrar is satisfied that the ship has been re-marked in accordance with these Regulations he or she shall—
  • (a)enter the new name of the ship in the Register; and
  • (b)endorse the new name of the ship on its certificate of registration or certificate of registry, whichever is applicable.
