A person wishing to take a trade test shall apply on the appropriate form and shall pay the fees set out in Schedule 2, provided that no application shall, without the written approval of the Director, be accepted unless—

• (a)in the case of an applicant for a Class III trade test, he or she has completed at least one year’s employment in the trade;
• (b)in the case of an applicant for a Class II trade test, he or she has completed at least 3 years employment in the trade, and he or she has passed his or her Class III trade test;
• (c)in the case of an applicant for a Class I trade test, he or she has completed either a contract of apprenticeship in the trade under the Act or at least 5 years employment in the trade and has passed his or her Class II trade test.
