(1) The master of a vessel lying alongside a wharf shall—

• (a)fix and maintain safe and proper gangways from the vessel to the wharf; and
• (b)comply with any directions given by the port management company in respect of the construction, position, removal, size, number and lighting of such gangways.

(2) The master who contravenes subregulation (1) commits an offence and is liable on conviction to the penalty set out in the Schedule.
